The massage therapy programs offered by the Myotherapy Institute are designed to meet the education requirements for a licensed massage therapist in the State of Nebraska. The Institute has not made a determination that its curriculum meets the state education requirements for licensure or certification in any other state.
Our Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree Program offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to bodywork, equipping students to practice massage therapy across diverse therapeutic settings. Developed over 24 years, this program encompasses the complete 1,000-hour Therapeutic Massage Training Program required for Nebraska licensure and includes additional general education courses necessary for an accredited Academic Associate Degree.
Students engage in an intensive study that covers massage theory, techniques, anatomy, physiology, pathology, and business essentials. The program is designed for rapid completion, allowing students to fulfill their 90 credit hours in just 12 months—comparable to, and often exceeding, the workload of a traditional college bachelor’s degree major.
Unique to our institute, students can tailor their education to their career aspirations by selecting specialized classes that align with their interests. Both residential and online class options are available.
Choose one of the following areas of interest to explore as a capstone project:
An advanced course that requires the student to review Chiropractic treatment philosophy with soft tissue and the role of massage with chiropractic services.
An advanced course that emphasizes long-term care treatment philosophy and office practices that enhance the students' effectiveness with the clinical application of intermediate techniques most effective with long-term care patients.
An advanced course that explores neuromuscular theory, which is typically reserved for licensed therapists. The course provides theory and practice in neuromuscular therapy treatment programs and includes the principles and laws of pain and dysfunction and the role of related trigger points throughout the body.
